Society of Manufacturing Engineers – Education Foundation Family Scholarship

The SME Education Foundation seeks to support the children or grandchildren of SME members, and to encourage their pursuit of careers in manufacturing engineering and technology. This highly competitive scholarship, made possible by the E. Wayne Kay Scholarship Fund, will be awarded to students who demonstrate academic excellence and an interest in manufacturing engineering or related technology.

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Milwaukee Chapter 4, through the SME Education Foundation (Foundation), will support two scholarships; One scholarship will be granted to a graduating high school senior, and the other will be granted to a current undergraduate student.  All scholarship applicants must plan on attending a four- year program at an accredited, public or private college or university within the state of Wisconsin, and he/she must be seeking a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, mechanical or industrial engineering.

The foundation divides the country into 12 regions (Chicago is its own region) and students decide which region to apply to.   There are 3 recipients for each of the following categories in each region:

a.    Gold – $3000 educational grant

**Winner in this category is also eligible for an additional $5000 educational grant, a laptop computer, and an all expenses paid trip to attend the Hispanic Heritage Awards in Washington, D.C.**

b.    Silver – $2000 educational grant

c.     Bronze – $1000 educational grant
