The SME Education Foundation seeks to support the children or grandchildren of SME members, and to encourage their pursuit of careers in manufacturing engineering and technology. This highly competitive scholarship, made possible by the E. The foundation divides the country into 12 regions (Chicago is its own region) and students decide which region to apply to. There are 3 recipients for each of the following categories in each region:
a. Gold – $3000 educational grant
**Winner in this category is also eligible for an additional $5000 educational grant, a laptop computer, and an all expenses paid trip to attend the Hispanic Heritage Awards in Washington, D.C.**
b. Silver – $2000 educational grant
c. Bronze – $1000 educational grant
